EXPOSE THE GAP — RETURN & EXCHANGE POLICY
Thank you for supporting Expose The Gap. As a one-woman ethical apparel operation, each item is packed by hand and produced with care. This policy helps us operate sustainably while still taking care of our customers.
By purchasing from Expose The Gap, you agree to the following Return, Refund & Exchange Policy.
1. Return Window for Standard Items (Size/Fit Issues)
You may request a return or exchange within 15 days of delivery for size or fit issues.
Items must be:

unworn
-
unwashed
-
free of fragrances, deodorant marks, stains, or “mystery smells”
-
free of pet hair (unless you send a photo of the pet responsible -- accountability matters 😁)
-
in sellable condition
-
with the printed neck label or tags intact
Washed or worn items cannot be returned -- if your shirt has already lived a life, it’s officially yours forever.
2. Return Window for Defective or Damaged Items
If your item arrives damaged or defective, email info@exposethegap.com within 7 days with:

Photos of the defect/damage
-
Photos of the packaging
-
Your order number
If approved, you may receive a free replacement after the item is responsibly donated or recycled, with proof.
A free replacement is sent after the item is:

donated, with proof (donation receipt or photo of donation dropoff), OR
-
recycled responsibly, with proof
If proof isn’t provided, a replacement cannot be issued.
*NOTE a defect or damaged item is considered a rip, tear, or misprinted logo.
3. Return Shipping Costs
To stay sustainable as a small business:

Customer pays return shipping for size/fit returns
-
Outbound replacement shipping is covered on your first exchange
-
All shipping for approved defective replacements is covered by Expose The Gap
4. Non-Returnable & Final Sale Items
The following items are FINAL SALE and cannot be returned, refunded, or exchanged:

Sale items
-
Clearance items
-
Limited-run drops
-
Pre-orders
-
Digital products
-
Items purchased with reward codes, store credits, or promotional credits

Gift cards (digital credits)
-
Items purchased through third-party platforms (e.g., print-on-demand partners, Etsy, etc.)
-
Items purchased through unauthorized resellers
These restrictions are industry standard and help prevent abuse.
5. Exchanges
Fastest method:

Start a return request
-
Once approved, purchase the new item separately
This ensures your preferred size/color doesn’t sell out.
If it’s your first exchange, Expose The Gap will cover outbound shipping for the replacement. After that, we expect you’ll have your sizing dialed in. And if you ever need help figuring out whether a new product will fit, just tell us what you bought last time, and we’ll pull out the tape measure. We are in construction, after all.
If you forgot what you bought, no worries... hopefully we are drowning in orders by then, but we can still look it up for you.
6. How to Start a Return or Exchange
Email info@exposethegap.com with your:

full name
-
order number
-
reason for return
-
photos if applicable
If your request is approved:

you will receive instructions for mailing the item back, or
-
for defective items, you will receive instructions for donation/recycling proof
Items sent back without prior approval will not be accepted or refunded.
7. Refunds
Refunds (when applicable) are issued to the original payment method after:

the returned item is received and inspected, OR
-
donation/recycling proof is verified (for defective items)
Refund timelines:
-
allow up to 10 business days after approval for processing
-
your bank or card issuer may require additional time
If more than 15 business days have passed after your return was approved and you have not received your refund, please contact info@exposethegap.com
8. Items That Do Not Qualify for Refund or Exchange
Your return may be denied if:

it arrives worn, washed, or damaged
-
it has deodorant, makeup, sweat, perfume, or smoke odors
-
it contains pet hair and does not come with a photo of the pet responsible 😁
-
it’s outside the return window
-
it is a final sale item
-
no proof of defect or donation/recycling is provided (for defective items)
Rejected items can be mailed back at your expense or recycled responsibly.
9. EU Customers – 14-Day Cooling-Off Period
If Expose The Gap ever makes it across the Atlantic (dream big, right?), EU customers have specific rights under EU consumer law.
For orders shipped to the European Union:
You have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days for any reason.
Items must be unworn, unwashed, and in original sellable condition.
This does not apply to final sale items.
